Out of town

It's nice to be down at my folks place, I drove down yesterday and had a very relaxing day today. It may not be that exciting, but I am getting to see family and I'm not at work, an excellent way to go.

Bleh

Things are going, sometimes just going. Work is work, but getting a little dumber and dumber when it comes to the people that run this place. It seems like I just work, go home and occasionally hang out with a few friends which all in all doesn't sound too bad, but sometimes I just don't feel like being around anyone. It isn't that my friends aren't welcoming or that I don't want to see them, it's more that I just don't want to intrude on their time. Maybe it's just the culmination of things, maybe it's just one of those things.

A While

I know it has been a while since my last post, things have been moving along ok. Work is work, mostly the same stuff with trying to get things done, doing events etc... Outside of work is pretty boring for anyone to read about so I will skip it.

We have been waiting for the higher ups and those designated by them to get the T.V. show ready for months now, they decided to go in-house to design the scenery and have been asking where our old stuff was and I keep having to tell them I was told to get rid of it as they didn't want anything old and they wanted all new so it's gone. We still don't have live shows, performers and no real time table for either, right now I just show HD movies with an educational bent.............. wheeeeeeeee.

New Year Old Problem

After just a little over 2 years I am having another little muscular skeletal problem, another round of muscle relaxers and anti-inflamitory happiness as well as physical therapy. It didn't get as bad as it did last time before I went to the doctor, but I haven't really had a good nights sleep in about a week and a half. Hopefully this time I can try to figure out why it happens and keep it from getting this bad again, I know it's probably a combination of a non-healthy lifestyle and a little stress. Although I am trying to get better, I quit smoking and so far so well, I don't plan on even having one or two at the bar when I drink, but we will see how it goes, that and trying to get my butt off the couch more.

Maybe that's in the spirit of a new year, make some actual changes and not making the same mistakes.....................

Long time no post

There really isn't a whole lot to say, it's been pretty much work, home, a little world of warcraft, spending a little time with friends, not much else. A few things have happened since my last post, but nothing that i really want to put up here, i may have something to post later, but for now that's about it.

Since GenCon

Well actually I will start with GenCon, it was a fun time and I got to see it from a different side this time. A friend of mine is a manager at a game shop as well as manager for it's internet sites and they had a booth at the con and he was nice enough to offer me a chance to go for free. I probably wouldn't work the convention again, or at least not all 4 days, because I do like to do some gaming and be able to set my own schedule since it is also a vacation for me. It wasn't as if I couldn't have tried to get in a game or two, but with being in the exhibit hall until 6 then getting dinner I wouldn't have been able to start until probably 7 or so and then depending on the game it could go for a few hours and I already have a morning problem. It was nice to be able to work the exhibit hall and then just have free time, I got to see an old friend from college, try a couple of good restaurants and did actually have time just to do nothing which was very nice.

Since then it has been pretty much work and general life stuff, that's one of the reasons I haven't posted in a while. It seems a little odd to just put that I went to work did a couple of things, worked an event..... that kind of thing because that's normal for most people. I have had a lot to do, but everyone does and I probably have it a lot easier than others. We have our gala opening in 2 weeks and I'm still waiting for actual details on what we will be doing and what the needs are. They probably won't really decide until we are down to the wire, which should be as fun as always......

I think the thing that bugs me the most is that because of various things I didn't get a chance to visit my parents this summer, they are great about it and understand that especially with the facility being finished and working up to the opening it would be tough to get any real time away. I had thought about ditching GenCon and visiting them instead, but they actually said that I should go and have some fun and that I can visit them later, I have great parents.

Well that's about all for now, I will probably put something up about the opening because I'm sure I may need to vent and this is a good place to do it because no one has to listen to me.

A couple of months

I realize it has been a while since I posted anything here, one reason is that it has been much of the same. Work has been crawling along with delays and problems with each forward step. It hasn't been all bad, but everything is behind and people still seem to be surprised when you tell them we aren't where they predicted we would be 7 months ago even though you have been keeping them informed on all the things that are going on and even getting there approval for all of the changes and decisions. We are slowly approaching our September opening and it is hard to see just what we will have, but they will have to try to come up with something.

Next week I am going on vacation to GenCon. It will be nice to not only get to geek out at all of the things there, but also to get out of town and completely away from work for a few days. I tried to take a couple days off a couple of weeks ago, but ended up needing to go in each day, at least this way that's not an option.

All in all it has been a pretty decent summer, it has been nice actually doing stuff in the new building, I've gotten to hang out with friends and go to a couple of festivals. Not too shabby.

Lots of stuff going on

Well I can't say that the last week or so has been boring, it seems that things kind of come in waves. A couple of friends are going through a little medical situation, two others are going through an ending and work has been very busy. Fortunately the medical situation seems to be on a very positive trend and getting better each day. The work thing is just going to be a bit of a grind for a while, we have our big new building/summer kick off event on Saturday and it just keeps getting changed by the upper management seemingly every couple of hours.

Although with everything going on it does remind me that I am very lucky to have the friends that I do and I'm also glad that from time to time I can help out in a small way.

Saturday

Some friends of mine had a crab boil yesterday, it's something they do once a year and this year I was able to make it for the first time, it was a great time, just hanging out having some good food and talking to people. I finished up the day with a little gaming, it was a very nice day, with everything going on with work recently it was good to have a relaxing fun day.

Almost gone

Today I was able to get all of the pieces of the scenery that we were finally able to get rid of cut into nice dumpster size pieces and into a big pile backstage, now over the next couple weeks I will be able to get it all gone. It has been both enjoyable and cathartic to demolish all of these pieces, being able to start with completely new things in the new facility is a much nicer position to be in rather than trying to adapt items that are about a decade old and have been heavily used. I have no idea when or what we will have, but they now have no choice but to go forward, and it only took about a week :)
